Position Overview

Rocky Mountain Music Repair is seeking a professional Education Services & School Partnerships Representative (Ed Rep) to serve as the primary liaison between our shop and school band programs throughout the Front Range. This role emphasizes long-term relationship building, consistent service, professional communication, and proactive support for music educators.

Purpose of the Role

The Ed Rep exists to support band directors, coordinate repairs and rentals efficiently, represent Rocky Mountain Music Repair with integrity, and strengthen the long-term sustainability of school music programs.

 

Core Responsibilities

Strategic Route Planning & Visit Scheduling

• Develop and maintain structured weekly/monthly service routes

• Coordinate visit schedules with directors in advance

• Prioritize schools based on repair needs, events, and rental season demands

Director Relationship Management

• Build and maintain trust-based relationships with directors

• Provide customized solutions for each program

• Maintain accurate CRM records of contacts, service history, and requests

Instrument Rentals & Sales Support

• Assist families in selecting appropriate rental instruments

• Process rental agreements and coordinate delivery

• Support recruitment nights and instrument selection events

Instrument Service & Field Support

• Collect instruments requiring advanced repair

• Return instruments promptly and communicate timelines clearly

• Educate directors and students on preventative maintenance

• Coordinate loaner instruments when necessary

Product Knowledge & Educational Support

• Maintain working knowledge of brass and woodwind brands and accessories

• Offer informed recommendations on equipment and supplies

• Conduct in-school presentations on instrument care when appropriate

• Stay current on industry trends and educational challenges

Inventory & Supply Management

• Monitor and restock essential consumables (reeds, valve oil, mouthpieces, etc.)

• Track rental returns and exchanges

• Maintain organized transport of instruments and materials

Event Support & Community Presence

• Attend band nights, parent meetings, festivals, competitions, and outreach events

• Provide support during performances and rental season events

In-Shop & Summer Development Responsibilities

• Assist with front-of-house duties and rental processing

• Create repair tickets and support customer service needs

• Clean instruments and assist with refurbishments

Summertime Job Duties Includes

• Cleaning and assembling brass instruments

• Repairing Orff instruments

• Basic brass and woodwind repairs

• Rental fleet refurbishments

Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain logs of school visits and service interactions

• Track follow-ups in CRM

• Submit service and sales updates as required

• Communicate significant feedback to management

Professional Conduct Expectations

• Punctual, respectful, and professional in all school interactions

• Follow school district check-in procedures

• Maintain a clean, organized vehicle stocked with tools and supplies

Prior Qualifications and Knowledge

The ideal candidate understands the culture and demands of school music programs and is comfortable operating independently while representing Rocky Mountain Music Repair in a professional school environment. This role requires strong communication skills, organization, and a service-oriented mindset.

Preferred Qualifications    Candidates with the following experience will be especially well-positioned for success:

  • Background in music education or instrumental performance

  • Experience working within school band programs

  • Familiarity with basic brass and woodwind repair concepts

  • Experience with CRM systems or music retail operations

Required Qualifications     All candidates must demonstrate:

  • Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor

  • Ability to work independently and manage a structured schedule

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

  • Clean 7-year driving record

  • Ability to pass a background check due to proximity to minors

 

Other Details

  • Applicant will be working in proximity to minors, so a background check will need to be passed.

  • Rocky Mountain Music repair does not tolerate the use of drugs or tolerate employees being under the influence of drugs while working.

  • You must be okay with working in an environment that contains a dog and a thirteen year old.Our daughter and dog comes to work nearly every day.

  • There will be times of the year where additional hours outside the normal business times will be required. Most notably, during back to school season at rental nights and the occasional Saturday.These times will be scheduled and discussed well in advance.Everyone in the company is expected to be understanding and flexible during these times of year that are so important to future growth.

  • Instruments can be heavy,must be able to lift/or move heavy objects such as a tuba or sousaphone.

  • Paydays are every Friday for the previous week’s hours. Pay Checks use Direct Deposit.

  • You will get a ½ hour break for lunch every day as required by law.

  • There will be a 2 month orientation period.At the end of this period we will meet and discuss strength and weaknesses and evaluate your future with the company.We don’t anticipate any problems but for both of our benefits, we want to make sure we are all happy before moving forward.

  • Dress code is relaxed business: Generally jeans or trousers for bottoms and an RMMR logo collared shirt for easy identification by band directors and school office staff.

 

Media

RMMR is active on multiple media platforms (social media, print media, TV media, etc.) as we love to showcase new product, awesome repairs, and anything else music related.  By accepting a job at RMMR you agree to give consent to record, videotape and photograph your image and/or voice to be used in media/advertising settings.  There is no additional or special compensation and you may not be informed in advance of the specific use of the image.

 

Schedule & Compensation

This position requires flexibility to meet the needs of school music programs. While the typical schedule will be Monday through Friday, approximately 7:30am–4:00pm to align with school hours, occasional adjustments may be necessary for evening events, rental nights, or special performances. Flexibility is especially important during peak back-to-school season, when additional hours may be required to properly support directors and families.   We make every effort to respect your time and maintain a healthy work-life balance, so overtime is generally minimal. There is flexibility throughout the week to adjust schedules as needed to maintain a standard 40-hour workweek.

  • Hourly Pay Rate:$26 per hour (40 hours per week available)

  • Holidays

    • We provide six (6) paid holidays per year.These holidays will count as an eight (8) hour work day based on hourly pay.These holidays are: New Year’s Day, The Fourth of July, Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas, and either Christmas Eve or the day after Christmas depending on the calendar.Holidays will take effect immediately upon hire.

  • Vacation

    • Employees earn one (1) hour of paid sick leave for every thirty (30) hours worked, not to exceed forty (40) hours each year.That amount will increase to eighty hours after 3+ years of employment.

    • Accrual begins on the first day of employment, and vacation time may be used after 90 days of full-time employment, with an average of 38 hours a week.

    • Vacation accrual will be reset at the anniversary date of employment, they can be rolled over with a cap of 15 days.

    • If employment ends, unused vacation days are paid out.

    • Vacationsmay not be taken between August 1st and September 30th without special permission from the employer.

  • Sick Days per Colorado Law

    • Employees earn one (1) hour of paid sick leave for every thirty (30) hours worked, not to exceed forty-eight (48) hours each year

    • Equate to six (6) day of sick pay per year. (on average, full-time employees would accrue a sick day about every 6 weeks)

    • If employment ends, unused sick days do not get paid out.

    • Sick day accrual starts on the first day of employment and will be reset each anniversary.

  • Colorado Secure Savings Program

    • Employees are automatically signed up for the retirement savings program, with the option to optout.

    • Roth IRA that is portable, stays tied to you and not your job so it stays with you.

    • Customize your contribution amounts, automatically starts at 5%

  • Education Stipend

    • Reimbursement of up to $1,000 per year to be used towards continuing education in the field of music retail, ed rep classes or sales training, etc.Qualifying training must be approved by management before being reimbursed.Classes can’t be during End of School or Back to School Season, dates should be cleared ahead of time.

  • Other Benefits:Employees of Rocky Mountain Music Repair get any retail items for personal use at the actual cost incurred by the business.
