This Backun Protégé Bb Clarinet is a professional-level wood clarinet made in Canada, designed for advancing students, college musicians, and serious clarinetists looking for a responsive step-up instrument. It features a grenadilla wood body, Backun bell, silver-plated keywork, undercut tone holes, alternate left-hand Eb key, and a New Traditional barrel design. This floor model includes a 66mm barrel instead of the standard 65mm barrel, along with the original case. Mouthpiece is not included.
This is a good choice for an advancing clarinetist ready to move into a higher-quality wood clarinet with strong response, tonal flexibility, and refined craftsmanship. Players appreciate Backun clarinets for their even feel, comfortable keywork, clear centered tone, and added flexibility from the alternate left-hand Eb key.
